The mid-range smartphone market in 2023 is witnessing intensified competition as Xiaomi unveils the highly anticipated Redmi Note 12 Turbo in China, directly targeting the OnePlus Ace 2V. Xiaomi’s competitive pricing strategy was announced during the launch event, declaring a price war against rivals in the Chinese market for 2023.
Xiaomi Welcomes Healthy Competition
Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group President and Redmi brand General Manager, made the announcement during the launch event in China. A translated version of his statement was, “If it’s a war you want, then let the smartphone price wars begin.” Xiaomi is challenging competitors to offer better performance at lower prices than its Redmi Note 12 Turbo. The company believes that healthy competition drives innovation in the smartphone industry.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo and OnePlus Ace 2V are expected to be introduced globally as the Poco F5 and OnePlus Nord 3, respectively. The Xiaomi Group President also shared a table highlighting the respective launch sale pricing in China:

At 2599 RMB (378 USD), the Redmi Note 12 Turbo claims the title of the world’s most affordable 1 TB smartphone, surpassing the previous record holder, the Realme GT Neo 5 240W 1 TB, which was priced at 3499 RMB (515 USD) at launch. For those seeking a 1 TB storage smartphone, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo offers over 25% in cost savings.
Redmi Note 12 Turbo Specifications
The Redmi Note 12 Turbo, launched today, features the latest Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm, comparable to the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC found in the Realme GT Neo 5 and superior to the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 in the OnePlus Ace 2V. The device supports up to 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1 TB UFS 3.1 storage. To ensure better, long-lasting performance, Xiaomi has incorporated a 3725mm vapor cooling chamber for improved heat dissipation.
Camera and Battery Features
The Redmi Note 12 Turbo boasts a triple camera setup, including a 64 MP main shooter with OIS, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2 MP macro sensor. The smartphone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging.
