Redmi Note 12 Pro+: A Budget Phone with High-End Features

Explore the exciting specifications and features of the recently released Redmi Note 12 Pro+, an affordable phone with an impressive 200MP camera and more.

    First Impressions and Key Specifications

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ boasts a 200MP primary camera, quick charging, an attractive design, and a beautiful display. With an affordable price tag, this phone is worth keeping an eye on. Our initial testing has been promising, but a more in-depth evaluation is needed.

    Impressive Display and Audio

    • 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED
    • Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DCI-P3 gamut support
    • Dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ features a vibrant AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth, responsive navigation. The screen supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and users can choose between sRGB or DCI-P3 color gamuts for customization. The stereo speakers offer clear audio and ample volume, while the headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.2 provide additional audio options.

    A Striking and Ergonomic Design

    • Dimensions: 163.0 x 76.03 x 7.98 mm
    • Weight: 187 grams
    • Colors: Midnight Black, Polar White, Sky Blue

We tested the eye-catching Sky Blue color option, which features a color-shifting finish. The rear of the phone feels smooth and comfortable, with curved edges and a non-slip surface. The design also includes a color-matched aluminum frame and a flat Corning Gorilla Glass 5-coated display.

The fingerprint reader is located on the power button, offering quick and responsive access. On top, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, but no expandable storage. However, with 256GB of storage as standard, most users may not need additional space.

    Performance and Battery Life

    • MediaTek Dimensity 1080
    • 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB UFS 2.2 storage
    • 5000 mAh battery, 120W HyperCharge
    • MIUI 14 based on Android 12

Powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1080 platform, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ performs well for daily tasks, such as messaging and video streaming. It only lags behind when running graphics-intensive games. Battery life is decent, and charging is incredibly fast with the included 120W wall adapter.

    Camera Capabilities

    • Main: 200MP f/1.65 (Samsung Isocell HPX)
    • Ultra-wide: 8MP f/2.2
    • Macro: 2MP f/2.4
    • Selfie: 16MP f/2.45

The 200MP main camera is the main attraction, complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro lens. While we have yet to fully evaluate the camera’s capabilities, the hardware shares similarities with high-end models like the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The front-facing 16MP camera promises quality selfies and portrait mode photos.

    Final Thoughts

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has the potential to be the top mid-range phone of 2023, provided its camera quality meets expectations. With its unique blend of high-end features and an affordable price, this device is definitely worth keeping on your radar.
