PwC Partners with OpenAI as Largest Customer

PwC Partners with OpenAI as Largest Customer and First Enterprise Reseller

In a landmark partnership, management consulting giant PwC has become the largest customer and the first official enterprise reseller of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise. As PwC Partners with OpenAI , this collaboration signifies a significant expansion of OpenAI’s presence in the corporate sector and highlights the growing adoption of AI tools in business environments.

PwC’s decision to integrate ChatGPT Enterprise into its operations will provide 100,000 of its employees with access to OpenAI’s advanced generative AI platform. This move not only establishes PwC as OpenAI’s largest customer to date but also marks the first instance of a major enterprise actively reselling OpenAI’s enterprise offerings to other businesses.

ChatGPT Enterprise is designed to offer businesses enhanced AI capabilities, including faster and unlimited access to generative AI interactions and customizable models. This tier also provides advanced analytics, priority support, and tools specifically tailored to meet corporate needs. By leveraging these features, PwC aims to enhance its service offerings and deliver greater value to its clients.

While OpenAI has not disclosed specific pricing details for its Enterprise subscription, it is known that the Team subscription costs $30 per user per month (or $25 per month when billed annually). Besides the free tier, there is also a Plus subscription available for individuals seeking access to the latest AI offerings, priced at $20 per month. This tier is designed to cater to the needs of individual users who require advanced AI capabilities.

Richard Hasslacher, Global Head of Alliances & Channels at OpenAI, emphasized the significance of this partnership in an interview with TechCrunch. He stated, “PwC becomes our largest customer, but they’re also our first partner who’s going to be reselling ChatGPT enterprise. It is penetration into industry verticals, but also providing an expansive set of services that customers desperately need to take advantage of in a brand-new solution category.”

    PwC’s Commitment to AI Transformation

In its official press release, PwC highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership and its commitment to leveraging AI for business transformation. The company stated, “We have entered the ‘prove it’ phase where we are actively demonstrating the capabilities and benefits of gen AI. We are taking a holistic approach and leveraging our deep industry experience to help transform our clients with AI, linking sources of value to common AI patterns to drive increased impact. This approach enables our clients to achieve faster outcomes with greater productivity, consistency, and efficiency.”

This partnership significantly boosts OpenAI’s market presence, particularly in the enterprise sector. Prior to this deal, OpenAI had already integrated ChatGPT Enterprise into 93% of Fortune 500 companies, with 600,000 users disclosed last month. PwC’s addition of 100,000 users marks a substantial increase and further cements OpenAI’s position as a leader in the AI industry.

As of 2023, PwC employs more than 364,000 people across 151 countries. A wider or full roll-out of ChatGPT Enterprise to PwC’s entire workforce would represent a considerable expansion for OpenAI. This potential for growth underscores the scalability and versatility of OpenAI’s AI solutions in addressing diverse business needs across various industries and regions.

The collaboration between PwC and OpenAI sets a precedent for other companies considering the integration of AI tools into their operations. By adopting and reselling ChatGPT Enterprise, PwC not only enhances its own capabilities but also paves the way for broader industry acceptance and utilization of AI-driven solutions.

The partnership between PwC and OpenAI is a significant development in the AI and business landscapes. By becoming the largest customer and first enterprise reseller of ChatGPT Enterprise, PwC is poised to drive substantial AI adoption and innovation within its operations and among its clients. This collaboration highlights the transformative potential of AI in enhancing productivity, efficiency, and overall business performance.
