Microsoft Unveils All-Digital Xbox Series X and Special Edition 2TB Model
Microsoft is set to shake up the console market this holiday season with the introduction of an all-digital Xbox Series X and a special edition 2TB model. This announcement came towards the end of the Xbox Games Showcase, highlighting a refreshed console lineup designed to cater to various gaming preferences and needs.
All-Digital Xbox Series X in Robot White
For the first time, Microsoft will offer an Xbox Series X without a disc drive, finished in a sleek robot white color. This model comes with 1TB of storage and will be priced at $450. While the original Series X typically retails for $500, it is frequently available at a reduced price, with Microsoft currently offering it for $450.
The introduction of an all-digital Series X had been anticipated for some time, with leaks in March suggesting such a model was in development. Similar to Sony’s PS5 digital edition, there is speculation that Microsoft might eventually offer a disc drive attachment for those who decide they want to play physical games on their all-digital Series X.
Special Edition 2TB Xbox Series X in Galaxy Black
In addition to the all-digital model, Microsoft will release a special edition Xbox Series X featuring a galaxy black colorway. This version includes a disc drive and boasts double the internal storage of the standard Series X, providing 2TB of space. The special edition console will come with a matching controller and will be priced at $600.
Updates to the Xbox Series S
The Xbox Series S is also receiving updates, albeit more modest ones. Following the release of a 1TB model in carbon black last year, Microsoft plans to launch a version with the same storage capacity in the original white colorway. This 1TB robot white option will be available in select markets for $350. It’s noteworthy that the carbon black variant will only be available “while supplies last,” suggesting it may soon be phased out.
Availability
Microsoft has promised to provide more details on availability and regional pricing in the near future. Additionally, the company hinted at plans for new controller designs that match specific games and more Xbox Series X console wraps, further expanding customization options for gamers.
