Vasu Jakkal, Microsoft’s CVP of Security, Compliance, Identity, and Management, told Yahoo Finance that this technology would allow for a level of defense that has never been achieved before. “You’re now going to be able to protect and disrupt attacks when they’re happening,” Jakkal said.

    AI Bot Combines OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Microsoft’s Security-Specific Model

Security Copilot utilizes both OpenAI’s GPT-4 generative AI model and Microsoft’s security-specific model to create an AI bot that assists cybersecurity professionals in various tasks. These tasks include quickly gathering information on recent security incidents within their organizations, investigating potential threats, and promptly accessing data on common vulnerabilities and exposures.

Microsoft demonstrated how Security Copilot can analyze a cyberattack to determine the hacker’s entry point into a network and onto a victim’s device. “It’s the first and only generative AI-based, [large language model]-based tool that is out there. It’s one of a kind. This has never happened before,” Jakkal added.

Enhanced Threat Detection and Response with Security Copilot

According to Microsoft, Security Copilot allows cybersecurity workers to identify incidents that may be missed using other methods, enhance the quality of threat detection, accelerate response times, and improve their overall security posture.

Microsoft already offers a range of cybersecurity products, such as Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Sentinel. In January, the company revealed that its cybersecurity division generates $20 billion in annual revenue.
