    How to use Google Bard

Google has unveiled Bard, its experimental AI chatbot, which uses natural language processing and machine learning to generate real-time responses. Like ChatGPT, Bard can assist with tasks such as writing emails to customer service or planning vacations, but it is still a work in progress, with some responses potentially inaccurate or offensive. Google is currently offering limited access to Bard, allowing early testers to provide feedback and help improve the technology. If you’re interested in trying Bard, we’ll guide you through joining the waitlist and using the AI chatbot.

Joining the Bard Waitlist: Eligibility Criteria

To join Bard’s waitlist and use the chatbot, you must:

    • Have a personal Google account managed by you and not a parent, guardian, or admin
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Use a supported web browser (Chrome, Chromium-based Edge, Firefox, Opera, or Safari)
    • Be located in the US or UK, as Bard is currently only available in these countries.

Steps to Join the Bard Waitlist

Gain Access to Google’s AI Chatbot

To join the waitlist, sign in to your Google account and visit bard.google.com on your device. Click or tap the blue “Join waitlist” button and confirm by selecting “Yes, I’m in.” You don’t need to opt in for email updates to join. Google will send an email when you are granted access to Bard.

How to Use Google’s AI Chatbot

After receiving an email granting access to Bard, click the “Take it for a spin” button or visit bard.google.com directly. Agree to Google’s terms and privacy policy before using Bard. Then, ask Bard any question or select a pre-populated query like, “Draft a packing list for my weekend fishing and camping trip.”

    Interacting with Bard

Bard will generate a response to your question within a few seconds. You’ll see three drafts with alternative answers at the top of the response. If you’re not satisfied with an answer, use the thumbs down button at the bottom of the page. If you like the response, use the thumbs up button. There is also a “Google it” button to explore related questions. Use the three-dot menu button to copy the response to your clipboard for pasting elsewhere or edit your question with the top-right button.

On the left side of the website, you’ll find options for:

    • Reset chat: Clear your chat and ask a new question.
    • Bard activity: View all questions you’ve asked Bard, with the option to disable this feature.
    • FAQ: Access frequently asked questions about Bard, including information about sources, data collection, and advertising.
    • Help & support: Find answers to any issues and report incorrect or offensive Bard responses.
