Gemini Nano AI on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a

After months of anticipation, Google has rolled out the Gemini Nano AI to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a models. This powerful AI enhancement will drive several on-device tools, such as the Summarize feature in the Recorder app. With this update, the app can now generate more detailed summaries and include speaker identification, making it easier to understand who is speaking when reviewing transcripts.

However, it’s important to note that Gemini Nano will initially be available as a “developer option.” Users will need to activate the AI functionality manually, as it will not be enabled by default. Detailed instructions on how to enable Gemini Nano on these devices can be found on the Pixel Phone Help website.

In addition to AI advancements, the June Feature Drop introduces new capabilities for the Pixel 8 series. One standout feature allows Pixel 8 models to display content on larger screens. By using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, users can connect their phones to a computer monitor or other large display for an enhanced viewing experience.

Another notable update is the introduction of a reverse phone number search feature. This tool enables users to identify unknown callers directly from their call log. Initially available on the Pixel Fold, Pixel 6, and newer models, this feature aims to provide greater convenience and security.
