Apple Confirms WWDC Dates for June

    Hints at New Mixed-Reality Headset

Apple has confirmed the dates for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) – 5-9 June.  While nothing has been officially outlined in the company’s release announcing the event dates, the teaser image looks like it’s related to a headset, lenses, or field of view. Industry insiders predict that this will be when Apple debuts the headset, which is currently favored to be named “Apple Reality Pro.”

The mixed-reality headset is expected to be given a price tag of around $3,000 and launch before the end of the year. While Apple’s announcement does not provide any additional information about the headset, it effectively whets the industry’s appetite for the highly anticipated device. The WWDC event will not only focus on the mixed-reality headset, but also on other wearable platforms, including watchOS 10.

Apple has been featuring watchOS at the annual WWDC event since the Apple Watch’s announcement in 2015. With the introduction of the Apple Watch Ultra, industry insiders are expecting a bumper year for the company’s smartwatch software platform. There is nothing specific mentioned in the official release about watchOS 10, but hopes are high for new features such as recovery insights, third-party watch faces, and proper native mapping for the Ultra.

The WWDC event is an annual conference that focuses on software development and usually includes announcements of new products and services. The 2021 event will be a virtual event due to the ongoing pandemic. The event will feature keynote speeches, developer sessions, and interactive labs.

The confirmation of the WWDC dates and the release of the teaser image have heightened anticipation for the release of the Apple mixed-reality headset. While the image does not reveal much, it has led to speculation about the headset’s design and features. The event will not only focus on the mixed-reality headset, but also on watchOS 10 and other wearable platforms. Apple enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see what new features and innovations will be announced at the WWDC event.
