Amazfit Debuts Zepp Coach AI – a ChatGPT Style Running Coach
Zepp Health /Â Amazfit Debuts Zepp Coach, an AI coach for its Amazfit Falcon and T-Rex Ultra smartwatches. The company teased the feature on its social media channels, showing a ChatGPT-style chatbot as the virtual coach that users can interact with.
The AI coach is designed to answer a range of training questions and offer suggestions on how to improve workouts. For example, users can ask how to structure their sessions and get suggestions on how to work out to increase their VO2 max.
The Zepp Coach AI is being launched as a limited beta, and interested users can sign up to get involved. The AI is embedded in the Zepp app, a few menus deep. While this is a good start, the real promise of AI is that it can take your training data and offer feedback, providing a 360-degree look at your health. However, there are still many barriers to achieving this goal.
The addition of a natural language coach to a strong fitness ecosystem is certainly noteworthy, and Zepp Health deserves kudos for making it happen. The role of AI in wearables is an increasingly hot topic, with more and more companies exploring the potential of this technology to provide personalized coaching and feedback to users. Just last week, we spoke to Whoop VP Kristen Holmes about the role of AI in wearables, highlighting the growing interest in this area.
While it’s not clear whether OpenAI’s GPT is driving the Zepp Coach feature, it’s clear that AI is already being leveraged in the app ecosystem. As AI continues to grow and shape the technology landscape, it’s little surprise that it’s being used to improve fitness and health tracking. However, there is still a long way to go before AI can fully leverage training data to provide personalized feedback to users.
The Zepp Coach AI is a significant step forward in the development of AI wearables, and it will be interesting to see how other companies respond to this latest innovation. With the potential to provide personalized coaching and feedback, AI is likely to become an increasingly important part of the wearables ecosystem in the years to come.
